Parallax Carbon Film Resistors - Through Hole
Carbon film resistors, also known as carbon composition resistors, are the simplest types of resistors available. They are constructed from a mixture of finely ground carbon particles, graphite and binders. Carbon film resistors come in both through-hole and surface mount, and have power ratings ranging from 0.25 to 2 Watts. They also have higher precision and stability than conventional wire wound resistors. Through hole, carbon film resistors feature a cylindrical body, allowing them to be mounted directly to a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and soldered into place. Compared to surface mount resistors, through hole resistors are larger and typically more expensive. Carbon film resistors have a wide range of applications, including power supplies, energy management, electronic circuits, control systems, and industrial automation.
