880-B.5 is a section of the Teko audio equipment specification. It sets out the requirements for digital-to-analog converters, which are used to convert digital signals, like those coming from a computer sound card, into analog audio signals that can be amplified and heard through loudspeakers. It specifies the maximum linearity and dynamic range of the converter, and establishes maximum allowable harmonic distortion levels. It also sets out when and how measurements should be taken, and how the results should be reported. Finally, it presents the industry's standard deviation tolerance range, which assesses how closely individual components meet the specification.
