D-Sub (or D-Subminiature) Micro-D connectors (also referred to as 9-pin connectors) are a type of electrical connector that is commonly used to connect digital and analog signals. These connectors are small, durable, reliable, and cost-effective. They are commonly used in a variety of applications including medical, industrial, and consumer electronics. They are available in various configurations, including straight and right-angle, with or without a backshell. D-Sub Micro-D connectors offer high levels of electrical shielding and resistance to temperature extremes. They are able to hold up to 12 contacts but usually use 9, as the name implies. The contacts are housed male/female, meaning that a female contact (on the plug) will enter into a male contact (on the receptacle), resulting in a secure connection.
