Lamp holders, also known as lamp sockets, are electrical fittings used to hold and protect a lamp in a particular place. They allow for a safe, efficient connection between the lamp and the power source. Lamp holders are used with a range of different types of lamps, including incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, CFL, and LED. Lamp holders come in a variety of sizes and styles, with most having the same threaded base. Accessories, such as pull-chains or dimmers can be used with lamp holders to give them extra functionality. Other accessories such as guards and lenses are also commonly used with lamp holders. These accessories can increase safety, protect the bulb from excessive heat, help control light levels, and/or create an attractive aesthetic.
