Clock generators are devices used to produce a time signal or other digital control signals. They provide a range of frequencies and duty cycle accurately and reliably. They are used in many embedded digital systems to ensure that the signals being sent and received are consistent and accurate. Clock generators can be used to generate four different types of signals: digital, pulse, analog and universal. Clock generator support products are also available to help ensure proper integration of the clock into an application environment. These include power supplies, buffers, phase-locked loops (PLLs) and clock jitter attenuators. Power supplies are used to provide the power for the clock source and buffers regulate the clock amplitude. PLLs are used to synchronize signals across multiple clock domains and the jitter attenuators are used to reduce jitter and increase clock stability.
