The HIN213EIAZ is a 5V Intersil-compatible RS-232 Interface IC from Renesas. It is rated for a 15KV Wakeup Ind feature, meaning it can be "woken up" when there is an active voltage present. It has 4 drivers and 5 receivers for communicating with other devices. It also has an integrated charge pump to provide the necessary voltage level shifting for standard RS-232 voltage levels and data rates. Its ESD protection features provide up to 8KV of contact and 10KV air discharge ratings, helping to protect against sudden power spikes.
