Data bus components and accessories are used in combination to configure a bus communication system. They include various types of connectors, cables, communication media, hubs and routers, signal conditioning equipment, amplifiers, transceivers, and repeaters. Connectors are used to connect systems to the bus network. Cables provide the physical connection between the systems. Communication media like coaxial and twisted pair are used depending on the bandwidth and environment. Hubs and routers serve as intelligent middleman devices for signal conditioning and relaying. Signal conditioners such as signal isolators, signal enhancers, and multiplexers are used to enhance signal transmission by allowing multiple signals to travel simultaneously. Amplifiers increase the signal strength and help reduce signal degradation. Transceivers convert the signals from digital to analog and analog to digital formats. Lastly, repeaters are used to extend the signal strengths and distances over far longer transmission paths.
