A4964 2 - Sensorless Sinusoidal Drive BLDC Controller FEATURES AND BENEFITS DESCRIPTION The A4964 is a three-phase, sensorless, brushless DC Three-phase sensorless BLDC motor control FET driver (BLDC) motor controller for use with external N-channel Three-phase sinusoidal drive with soft start power MOSFETs and is specifically designed for automotive Sensorless start-up and commutation applications. It is designed to provide the motor control Windmill detection and synchronization functions in a system where a small microcontroller provides Bootstrap gate drive for N-channel MOSFET bridge the communication interface to a central ECU and intelligent 5.5 to 50 V supply range fault and status handling. The A4964 provides the supply and SPI-compatible interface watchdog for the microcontroller and the high-voltage interfaces Programmable control modes: speed, voltage, current between the microcontroller and the central ECU and ignition Peak current limiting switch. The A4964 can also operate as an independent single- Control via SPI or PWM chip remote motor controller. Control mode, operating mode, and control parameters are programmed PACKAGES through an SPI-compatible serial interface. 36-terminal eQFN A single current sense amplifier provides peak current limiting (suffix EV) and average current measurement through the serial interface. Integrated diagnostics provide indication of undervoltage, overtemperature, and power bridge faults and can protect the 32-lead eQFP power switches under most short-circuit conditions.
