It is a 16-bit processor that is the successor to the AM27S19/BRA and has a much higher clock rate (2.5 MHz) compared to the AM27S19/BRA (1.25 MHz). The AM27S29/BRA features a 16-bit ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit); 8-bit I/O (Input/Output); 1.5K bytes of on-chip RAM; on-chip ROM (Read Only Memory); and a low-power mode. The on-chip ROM allows for the storage of program instructions, making the AM27S29/BRA a true microcontroller. This part also has an optional external address latch and external interrupt capabilities.
