MAX16930/MAX16931 2MHz, 36V, Dual Buck with Preboost and 20A Quiescent Current General Description Benefits and Features The MAX16930/MAX16931 offer two high-voltage, Meets Stringent OEM Module Power Consumption synchronous step-down controllers and a step-up and Performance Specifications preboost controller. They operate with an input voltage 20A Quiescent Current in Skip Mode supply from 2V to 42V with preboost active and can 1% Output-Voltage Accuracy: 5.0V/3.3V Fixed or operate in drop-out condition by running at 95% duty Adjustable Between 1V and 10V cycle. The devices are intended for applications with Enables Crank-Ready Designs mid- to high-power requirements that operate at a wide Integrated Preboost for Operation Down to 2V in input voltage range such as during automotive cold- Bootstrap Mode crank or engine stop-start conditions. Wide Input Supply Range from 3.5V to 36V The MAX16930/MAX16931 step-down controllers (without Preboost) operate 180 out-of-phase at frequencies up to 2.2MHz EMI Reduction Features Reduce Interference with to allow small external components, reduced output Sensitive Radio Bands without Sacrificing Wide Input ripple, and to guarantee no AM band interference. The Voltage Range switching frequency is resistor adjustable. The FSYNC 50ns (typ) Minimum On-Time Guarantees Skip- input programmability enables three frequency modes Free Operation for 3.3V Output from Car Battery for optimized performance: forced fixed-frequency at 2.2MHz operation, skip mode with ultra-low quiescent Frequency-Synchronization Input current (20A), and synchronization to an external clock. Resistor-Programmable Frequency Between The devices also provide a spread-spectrum option to 200kHz and 2.2MHz minimize EMI interference.
