Click here for production status of specific part numbers. 2 MAX25014 Automotive Low Input Voltage I C 4-Channel 150mA Backlight Driver General Description Benefits and Features The MAX25014 is a 4-channel backlight driver IC with Wide Voltage-Range Operation boost controller for automotive displays. The integrated Operates Down to 2.5V Supply After Startup current outputs can sink up to 150mA LED current each. Survives Load Dumps Up to 40V The device accepts a wide 2.5V to 36V input voltage High Integration range and withstands automotive load-dump events. Complete 4-Channel Solution Including Boost The internal current-mode switching DC-DC controller Controller 2 supports boost or SEPIC topologies and operates in the I C Control for Minimum Parts Count 400kHz to 2.2MHz frequency range. Integrated spread Robust and Low EMI spectrum helps reduce EMI. An adaptive output-voltage- Spread-Spectrum Oscillator control scheme minimizes power dissipation in the LED Phase Shifting current-sink paths. 400kHz to 2.2MHz Switching-Frequency Range Control is included for an external nMOSFET series switch nMOS Input Protection Switch to reduce quiescent current when the backlight is off and Multiple Diagnostic Features to disconnect the boost converter in the case of a fault. LED-Current Measurement 2 The device features I C-controlled pulse-width-modu- Boost Output Voltage Measurement lation (PWM) dimming and hybrid dimming. In either case, LED Open/Short Detection and Protection the minimum pulse width is 500ns. Phase-shifted dimming Boost Output Undervoltage and Overvoltage of the strings is incorporated for lower EMI.
