EVALUATION KIT AVAILABLE MAX2851 5GHz, 5-Channel MIMO Receiver General Description Features The MAX2851 is a single-chip, 5-channel RF receiver IC 5GHz, 5x MIMO Downlink Receivers, Single-Uplink designed for 5GHz wireless HDMI applications. The IEEE 802.11a Transmitter IC includes all circuitry required to implement the com- 4900MHz to 5900MHz Frequency Range plete 5-channel MIMO RF receiver function and crystal Coherent LO Among Receivers oscillator, providing a fully integrated receive path, VCO, 4.5dB Rx Noise Figure frequency synthesis, and baseband/control interface. It includes a fast-settling sigma-delta RF fractional synthe- 70dB Rx Gain Control Range with 2dB Step Size, sizer with 76Hz frequency programming step size. The Digitally Controlled IC also integrates on-chip I/Q amplitude and phase-error 60dB Dynamic Range Receiver RSSI calibration circuits. The receiver includes both an in- RF Wideband Receiver RSSI channel RSSI and also an RF RSSI. Programmable 20MHz/40MHz Rx I/Q Lowpass On-chip monolithic filters are included for receiver I/Q Channel Filters baseband signal channel selection, for supporting both 20MHz and 40MHz RF channels. The baseband filtering -5dBm Transmit Power (54Mbps OFDM) and Rx signal paths are optimized to meet stringent WHDI 31dB Tx Gain Control Range with 0.5dB Step Size, requirements. The downconverter local oscillator is coher- Digitally Controlled ent among all the receiver channels. Tx/Rx I/Q Error and LO Leakage Detection and The reverse-link control channel uses an on-chip 5GHz Adjustment OFDM transmitter. It shares the RF synthesizer and LO Programmable 20MHz/40MHz Tx I/Q Lowpass generation circuit with the MIMO receivers. Dynamic Anti-Aliasing Filter on/off control of the external PA is implemented with programmable precision voltage. An analog mux routes Analog Mux for PA Power Detect external PA power-detect voltage to the RSSI pin. PA On/Off Control The MIMO receiver chip is housed in a small 68-pin TQFN Sigma-Delta Fractional-N PLL with 76Hz Resolution leadless plastic package with exposed paddle.
