The Arduino USB Host Shield is a shield designed for the Arduino platform which enables the Arduino board to connect to and control a USB device. The shield provides the interface to enable the Arduino board to communicate with USB devices. It provides a 5V regulated power for the connected device, and includes USB A, B and mini AB ports, allowing for the connection of a wide variety of USB devices. The shield also includes a USB standard-A to USB mini-B connecting cable, a USB 2.0 hub, and an additional USB 2.0 port for connecting additional USB devices. The onboard control logic manages the communications and data transfer between the Arduino and the USB device, allowing for applications such as Human Input Devices and Communications. The included shield library provides API functions to access the USB Host Shield and its functions.
