70625 is a district of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, located in the West Bank of the Mississippi River, within the larger Orleans Parish. Geographically, the district known as 70625 is bordered to the north by the Gentilly neighborhood, to the east by the Lake Terrace-Lake Oaks neighborhood and the Pines Village neighborhood, to the south by the Algiers neighborhood, and to the west by the city of Westwego. The primary streets that make up 70625 are Clover Street, Gen degrave Street, General Meyer Avenue, Industrial Street, and Opelousas Avenue. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the population of 70625 is 8,969, making it the 8th most populous census-designated place in the state of Louisiana. It is also one of the most diverse, with over 50% African-American residents and nearly 18% Hispanic residents. 70625 is known as a blue-collar, working-class neighborhood and is one of the most affordable places to live in New Orleans. A number of businesses, restaurants and retail outlets can be found throughout the district. The area is also served by two local elementary schools and several community organizations.
