FIX-4-13 part of the FIX (Financial Information eXchange) Protocol is a message specification that details the structure of FIX messages. These messages are the means by which computer systems within a financial services organization communicate information such as orders, quotes, and positions. The FIX-4-13 specification specifies fields to contain security identifiers, account information, quantity or values, and order types. The FIX-4-13 specification also defines the grammar and syntax of FIX messages, which allows automated financial applications to understand the meaning of FIX messages that are exchanged. As different versions of FIX are released, new message types are specified.
