The 74HC245N is a quad bidirectional bus transceiver with two logic-buffer and two driver/receiver stages each. The device is constructed with high performance advanced CMOS technology and is housed in a standard 20-pin dual in-line plastic (DIP) package. It is RoHS compliant, with lead-free materials and manufacturing processes. The device is manufactured by HGSEMI. It enables communication between two bus systems in both sending and receiving directions. It features three-state outputs, which are controlled by the output-enable (OE) input. When OE is high, all outputs are in the high impedance OFF-state and when OE is low, the outputs are enabled and assume the logic level dictated by their respective data inputs. The 74HC245N offers both low-power and high-speed operation with a typical propagation delay of just 9 nanoseconds (ns) at 4.5V. It also has a low-power standby mode, in which the power consumption is less than 5 µA. The device operates over a wide range of supply voltages from 2V to 6V, making it suitable for today’s low-voltage applications. The inputs are 5V tolerant and more than one device can be connected together on the same bus. The device is also fully static to ensure maximum system flexibility.
