RBL-30 KSS

RBL-30 is a base of high-performance, low-maintenance short baseline subsea positioning system designed and manufactured by Kongsberg Seatex (KSS). It is a compact and robust subsea system primarily suited for operations with high dynamic loads such as ROVs, divers, structures and vehicles in deep waters. The total system consists of the RBL-30 subsea transponder or P-ring, an acoustic transceiver, and an acoustic source. The transponder is usually placed in the seabed and consists of two main components – a hydrophone for receiving acoustic signals and a transducer for transmitting acoustic signals. The acoustic transceiver is located on a vessel to record the signals transmitted by the transponder. The acoustic source is located at the other end of the acoustic link. It is used to transmit acoustic signals that will be received by the transponder. The signal transmit and receive system is based on a combination of time-based signal coding and signal routing concepts. The RBL-30 system comes with several features such as fast signal communication, signal speed of up to 350 meters per second and a signal coverage area of up to 1000 meters. The system is also capable of providing accurate positioning even in strong currents due to its sophisticated signal transmission and routing techniques.
