1. Interruption Controller - The 7255 is an Interrupt Controller and Programmable Priority Interrupt (PPI) that controls and multiplexes 8 external interrupt requests to the internal interrupt request of Intel 8085 microprocessors. 2. Programmable Peripheral Interface - The 7255 provides a programmable peripheral interface for connecting external devices to the microprocessor. It includes 8-bit programmable ports for input or output and 2 interrupt mask registers for control logic. 3. Programmable & Modular Design - The 7255's modular design makes it flexible and easy to use in various configurations. It provides a programmable port for communication and data transfer between connected devices. 4. High-Speed Data Bus - The 7255's data bus is fast enough for transferring a large amount of data in a short amount of time. It supports the 8085's data bus width, allowing high-speed data transfer with minimal overhead. 5. Bus Arbitration - The 7255's Bus Arbitration feature enables the microprocessor to gain control over the bus and minimize bus contention when accessing external devices. 6. Expandable Memory - The 7255 can be enhanced with Expandable Memory (EM) devices. This allows the microprocessor to access more memory when necessary and improve performance. 7. Pin Compatibility - The 7255 is pin-compatible with 8255 and therefore can easily be replaced in existing systems. 8.
