The 24LC16B-E/MS is an EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory) device from Microchip Technology. It is an 16K, 8-pin memory device, capable of storing up to 16 kbit of data in a serial interface. It provides an 8-bit register like address and the data is loaded or stored in the 1k x 8 EEPROM on the chip. The 24LC16B-E/MS is callable for a variety of applications, including system configuration information storage, serial configuration, small data logging, device identification and calendaring, in addition to Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) storage for systems. It has a low power consumption at 300µA max. This device is capable of using I2C communication protocol with a data rate of 100 kHz and 400 kHz. It has a transparent addressing capability with a single device providing 2 blocks of 8 kbyte each. It has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
