The SMLJ78CA-TP is a 3000W Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode manufactured by Micro Commercial Components (MCC). This device is a unidirectional diode in a two-pin surface mount package. It is built with a silicon body for superior heat dissipation and fast response times and uses a proprietary design containing an array of metal-oxide-varistor (MOV) elements to protect your circuit from electrostatic discharge (ESD). Its fast responding capability makes it suitable for use in applications such as USB or IEEE1394, Reducing lines and PCM port to protect against ESD and transients. It has a peak power dissipation of 3000W and a clamping voltage of 94.6V.
