MP3900 High Efficiency Boost Controller The Future of Analog IC Technology DESCRIPTION FEATURES The MP3900 is a boost controller that drives an Current Mode Control external MOSFET capable of handling 10A 10V MOSFET Gate Driver current. It has an operational current of typically Undervoltage Lockout 180A and can accommodate off-line, Telecom Internal Soft-Start and non-isolated applications. Internal Cycle-by-Cycle Current Limiting undervoltage lockout, slope compensation and Slope Current Compensation peak current limiting are all provided to Lossless Current Sense (V <30V) ISENSE minimize the external component count. In a 10A Shutdown Current boost application, with an output voltage of less 180A Quiescent Current than 30V, the current sense pin can connect 330KHz Constant Frequency Operation directly to the drain of the external switch. This Applicable to Boost, SEPIC, Flyback and eliminates the requirement for an additional Forward Topologies current sensing element and its associated Available in an 8-Pin MSOP/SOIC efficiency loss. Packages While designed for boost applications, the APPLICATIONS MP3900 can also be used for other topologies including Forward, Flyback and Sepic. The 10V TV CCFL Power Generation gate driver voltage minimizes the power loss of Telecom Isolated Power the external MOSFET while allowing the use of Brick Modules a wide variety of standard threshold devices. Off-line Controller The MP3900 is available in 8-pin MSOP and All MPS parts are lead-free and adhere to the RoHS directive. For MPS green status, please visit MPS website under Quality Assurance.
