International Exposition
TA-228-1 was part of the Pan Pacific International Exposition, a world's fair event. It was an amusement park ride located in the Exposition's amusement area, the "Tropical Zone". The ride was an open-air roller coaster with a total of seven cars and a figure-eight shaped track. The ride featured painted scenic backgrounds of palm trees, tropical birds and landscapes to entertain riders as they moved along the route. It was known for its sharp dips and turns, which often produced a wild ride for adventurous riders. The ride operated from May 15 to December 1, 1915, and attracted an estimated 1.2 million riders before it was shut down. TA-228-1 was one of the most popular attractions of the Pan Pacific International Exposition, and remains a fondly remembered part of its history.
