Additional Infomation About Product

The VM-CLAP1 Hand Clap Sensor from Pololu is a low-power, passive infrared motion sensor designed to detect claps and other loud sounds. The sensor operates using a bank of four infrared detectors, which detect objects that enter its range by reflecting the infrared light off of them. The device can detect claps from up to 3.5 m (11.5') away, making it suitable for sensing sound from a long distance. The output of the sensor is an analog voltage, allowing for easy connection to an analog-to-digital converter for Arduino or other microcontrollers. The device is also very low power, drawing only 33 µA when connected to 3V.
