The Wixel Shield for Arduino, V1.1, is an expansion board that makes it easy to use a Wixel wireless module with the Arduino platform. This shield was designed by the robotics team at Pololu, a robotics company in Garland, Texas. This shield lets you turn an Arduino Uno or Leonardo into a networked device with the help of a Wixel module and a USB cable. A Wixel module is a low-cost, low-power, short-range, modular wireless module. The Wixel Shield connects the Wixel module to the Arduino's hardware serial ports and breaks out the Wixel's 8 general-purpose I/O lines for easy access. The shield also features an addressable breakout for voltage regulators and EEPROMs, allowing the user to save data, and a 3-axis accelerometer and temperature sensor from STMicroelectronics. The Wixel Shield also includes a prototyping area for custom circuits. This Wixel Shield for Arduino is without question for the experienced electronic hobbyist or technical professional willing to invest time in developing his own application of a wireless network.
