The LINKIT SMART 7688 from Seeed Studio is an open-source development board that aims to bridge the gap between the development world and the physical device world. It is based on the OpenWrt Linux distribution and enables developers to easily create, debug, deploy and manage diverse IoT applications. The LINKIT SMART 7688 comes with two communication options: a WiFi enabled wireless access point and a USB-to-serial converter that can be used as a gateway between the board and any other device. The board also comes with an ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 128MB of DDR3 RAM, 1GB of on-board Flash storage and a range of interfaces, such as a 10/100 Ethernet port, 8x GPIOs, a UART and an SD card port. It also has a 16-cell battery backup and can be powered through a 5 VDC power adapter.
