The GP1S196HCZSF with Optical Switches, Transmissive, Phototransistor Output Photointerrupter Sub mini 1.0mm gap manufactured by Sharp is a device used to detect the presence of objects and break electrical circuits. It consists of an emitter, a shield, and a detector in an epoxy housing. The emitter emits infrared light, and the shield blocks direct infrared light from the detector, while allowing the crossing of light from the object to be detected. The detector has a phototransistor output and requires an external resistor. The gap between the emitter and detector is 1mm. This device is used in a variety of applications such as sensing the presence of objects in industrial equipment and robotics.
