Arrester 1. The 4GBJ610G is a type 2 surge arrester, which is designed to be installed between the service or feeder entrance and the distribution equipment or transformer. The device is rated for up to 4 kA of surge current and 2 kV of surge voltage. 2. The device provides protection against damaging surges, spikes and overvoltage transients that may be present on the utility power lines due to nearby lightning strikes or other sources of transients. The device is also rated to withstand a short-circuit current of 10,000 A. 3. The 4GBJ610G surge arrester features an internal thermal disconnect switch that will shut off the power supply to the protected circuit once the current or voltage exceeds the rated values. The device also has a highly visible red indicator light which will activate if the thermal switch is tripped. 4. The 4GBJ610G surge arrester is constructed from thermally insulated, flashproof material and is equipped with an easily accessible test and reset button. This allows the device to be quickly and easily tested and reset following a surge event.
