Te Connectivity Data Bus Components - Terminators
Data Bus Terminators are used to absorb reflections of the signal moving down the data bus, which helps to keep the signal clean and prevent signal stuff and errors. Terminator resistors are typically placed on both ends of a transmission line, with their values chosen based on the specific bus and cable characteristics. A terminator should have an ohm value that is equal to the characteristic impedance of the transmission line. The send bus also needs a pull-up resistor to ensure the data is read in the logic high state when no device is driving the bus. The pull-up resistor should have a value at least 10 times greater than that of the termination resistor.
