Contactors are electromechanical relays that are used to switch large electrical loads, such as motors, lighting, and other high-powered electrical devices. Contactors have several sets of contacts that can be opened and closed by an operator, either mechanically or electrically. Contactors are used to control high-voltage and large-current applications, and they are found in many industrial, commercial and residential systems. They are an important part of an electrical system and can be used to protect the electrical system, prevent short-circuits, and provide an efficient control over large high-current parts of the system.
