Microchip System-On-Modules - SOM
System-On-Modules, or SOMs, are compact boards that offer the core functions of embedded computing systems. A SOM contains the processor, memory and other components required to run an operating system and execute native software, such as an embedded communications stack. The SOM is typically sold as a single module that can be plugged into a product's printed circuit board (PCB), which provides the user interface and adds additional functionality as needed. This solution allows a product's custom components to be easily separated and rearranged, allowing a more tailored product.
