Memory & Data Storage
Memory is the part of a computer system that is used to store data and instructions that are currently being used. Memory is typically composed of DRAM chips attached to the motherboard. The main types of memory are Random Access Memory (RAM), Read-only Memory (ROM), and flash memory.
Data Storage is the process of storing digital information, typically on a hard drive, flash drive, or other similar devices. Data storage can involve multiple file systems and/or log files, as well as the primary physical storage device. Data storage devices provide permanent storage for digital information, allowing for quick and easy access. Data can be stored in a variety of different formats and can be used for a wide range of purposes. Some of the most common types of data storage are disk storage, tape storage, and optical storage.
Both memory and data storage are essential components of a computer system. Memory is used to store programs, data, and instructions while they are being used, while data storage is used to store that information in a form that can be accessed and used in the future. Data storage is also a form of backup, allowing data to be recovered in the event of a system failure.
