Futaba Vacuum Fluorescent Displays - VFD
Vacuum Fluorescent Displays (VFDs) are special types of display technologies that are mostly used for providing information on consumer electronics (like microwaves and stereos). VFDs are semi-transparent and feature an array of light-emitting diodes that form the lighted display. VFDs are primarily made up of cold cathode, which refers to the gas-filled tubes that contain a number of horizontal wires called “cathodes”. Electrons flow from the cathodes to the anodes when the power is turned on. The electrons excite the gas particles, which in turn create light that produces the display. VFDs are long-lasting, energy efficient, and offer better contrast than other display technologies. They can be easily programmed to display information or images, making them an ideal choice for consumer electronic applications.
