Fibre optic transmitters, receivers and transceivers are devices used in fibre optic communication systems to convert electrical signals into optical signals and optical signals into electrical signals.
Fibre optic transmitters are used to convert electrical signals into optical signals. They contain optical amplifiers, electronic filters and a diode to insert the signal into the fiber. The optical signal is then sent down the fiber to the receiver.
Fibre optic receivers are used to convert the optical signal back into an electrical signal. They contain filters, receivers and amplifiers that help to amplify the received signal and convert it back into an electrical signal.
Fibre optic transceivers are integrated devices that contain both transmitter and receiver functions in a single package. The transceiver contains an optical amplifier and receiver, and an electronic filter, diode and amplifier to convert the electrical signal into an optical signal and vice versa.
