Aluminium electrolytric capacitors are electronic devices which use an electrolyte between two aluminium foils and a separator to create an electrostatic storage device, much like a battery. They are typically cylindrical in shape, and constructed with snap-in leads at both ends. The snap-in variety typically has two metal plates acting as connections which snap into corresponding holes in the capacitor body. Snap-in capacitors typically have better electrical properties than their standard axial varieties, however they are larger in size. Furthermore, snap-in configurations are not as commonly used since through hole components are more convenient for automated assembly processes.
