Power-Sonic NiCd - Nickel Cadmium Battery
Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) batteries are rechargeable batteries made up of cadmium and nickel oxide. They are known for their high energy density and low self-discharge rates, making them an ideal choice for applications where a long service life is desired. NiCd batteries are widely used for powering portable electronics such as cordless tools, digital cameras and portable radios. They are also frequently used in solar, wind and electric vehicle power systems. A typical NiCd cell has an energy density of approximately 1,200 watt-hours per kilogram (Wh/kg) and a self-discharge rate of about 20% per month. NiCd batteries are generally cost-effective and last for a long time before needing to be replaced. Additionally, Nickel Cadmium batteries can tolerate over-discharge, making them highly durable and reliable in many applications.
