On Semiconductor Serial to Parallel Logic Converters
Serial to parallel logic converters are devices which can be used to convert digital signals transmitted serially into digital signals which are transmitted in parallel. Serial transmission is where data is transmitted bit-by-bit over a single wire, while parallel transmission is where data is transmitted simultaneously over multiple wires. Serial to parallel converters can be used to increase the speed of data transmission, as the data is sent out at once in parallel rather than having to wait for each bit to be individually transmitted. This can also be used to reduce the amount of cabling that is required, as only one wire is necessary for serial transmission compared to several when using parallel transmission. Serial to parallel converters can be used in a variety of applications such as in databases, communication systems and medical instruments.
