A digital multimeter is an electronic device commonly used to measure voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, and other electrical quantities. It is an invaluable tool in many areas of electronics, allowing an engineer or technician to quickly and accurately diagnose problems. The ability to first measure currents, voltages and then calculate other quantities such as power or frequency adds to the flexibility of this instrument.
