The Intel 8 4040L SL01 is a part of the Intel 8400 Advanced Logic Unit (ALU) TP series. It is a 4-bit ALU designed for general digital applications. This part features 4 bit registers, 1 accumulator and 1 memory unit. It has 4 simple instructions including add, subtract, rotate and move, as well as dedicated instructions for shift, bit set or reset, compare and program subroutines. Furthermore, it has integrated support for 8 bit I/O, serial and parallel communications, control flow instructions and limited multitasking capabilities.
