The AOC features optical engines inside both cable connectors improving speed and distance versus traditional copper assemblies. By having the same supplier transceiver at both ends, the assembly assures interoperability and provides an excellent link performance. The assembly is a full duplex, 4 channel construction whereby each channel is capable of transmitting data at rates up to 14 Gb/s. Typical applications are serving transmission distances between 3m and 100m.
