Integrated Optical Module for Smoke Detection Data Sheet ADPD188BI FEATURES GENERAL DESCRIPTION 3.8 mm 5.0 mm 0.9 mm module with integrated optical The ADPD188BI is a complete photometric system for smoke components detection using optical dual wavelength technology. The module 1 blue LED, 1 IR LED, and 2 photodiodes integrates a highly efficient photometric front end, two light 2 external inputs for other sensors (for example, carbon emitting diodes (LEDs), and two photodiodes (PDs). These monoxide (CO) and temperature) items are housed in a custom package that prevents light from Three 370 mA LED drivers going directly from the LED to the photodiode without first 20-bit burst accumulator enabling 20 bits per sample period entering the smoke detection chamber. On-board sample to sample accumulator enabling up to The front end of the application specific integrated circuit 27 bits per data read (ASIC) consists of a control block, a 14-bit analog-to-digital Optimized SNR for signal limited cases converter (ADC) with a 20-bit burst accumulator, and three 2 I C or SPI communications flexible, independently configurable LED drivers. The control circuitry includes flexible LED signaling and synchronous APPLICATIONS detection. The analog front end (AFE) features best-in-class Smoke detection rejection of signal offset and corruption due to modulated interference commonly caused by ambient light. The data 2 output and functional configuration occur over a 1.8 V I C interface or serial peripheral interface (SPI) port.
