The LTC4020EUHF#PBF is a higher-frequency version of Analog Devices' 55V buck-boost multi-chemistry battery charger. This battery charger, which is designed for surface-mount applications, is capable of charging any type of battery, including lithium-ion, nickel-metal hybrid, and lead acid. It is a highly efficient design that can regulate output voltages up to 16V and output currents up to 4A. It also features built-in short-circuit protection as well as thermal shutdown feature and overvoltage protection. Additionally, it can detect and control excessive temperatures while supporting temperature compensation for improved charging accuracy. The LTC4020EUHF#PBF also features an internal power MOSFET, which eliminates the need for an external synchronous rectifier and allows the device to operate in either buck or boost mode.
