MAX20446 Automotive 6-Channel Backlight Driver with 2 Boost/SEPIC Controller and I C Interface General Description Benefits and Features The MAX20446 is a 6-channel backlight driver with boost Wide-Voltage-Range Operation controller for automotive displays. The integrated current Operates Down to 4V Supply After Startup outputs can sink up to 130mA LED current each. The Survives Load Dump Up to 52V device accepts a wide 4.5V to 36V input voltage range High Integration and withstands direct automotive load-dump events. Complete 6-Channel Solution Including Boost The internal current-mode switching DC-DC controller Controller 2 I C Control for Minimum Parts Count supports boost or SEPIC topologies, and operates in the 400kHz to 2.2MHz frequency range. Integrated spread Robust and Low EMI spectrum helps reduce EMI. An adaptive output-voltage- Spread-Spectrum Oscillator control scheme minimizes power dissipation in the LED Phase Shifting current-sink paths. 400kHz to 2.2MHz Switching-Frequency Range 2 Fail-Safe Operation Mode Using the FSEN Pin The device features I C-controlled pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming and hybrid dimming. In either case, the Versatile Dimming Scheme Allows Hybrid or minimum pulse width is 500ns. Phase-shifted dimming of 2 PWM-Only Dimming Using DIM Input or I C the strings is incorporated for lower EMI. Dimming Ratio > 10000:1 Using Hybrid Dimming 10000:1 Dimming Ratio at 200Hz using PWM Dimming Comprehensive diagnostic information is also available 2 through the I C interface.
