MAX20446C Automotive 6-Channel Backlight Driver with Boost/SEPIC Controller and Hybrid Dimming General Description Benefits and Features The MAX20446C is a 6-channel backlight driver with Wide Voltage-Range Operation boost controller for automotive displays. The integrated Operates Down to 4V Supply After Startup current outputs can sink up to 130mA LED current each. Survives Load Dump Up to 52V The device accepts a wide 4.5V to 36V input voltage High Integration range and withstands automotive load-dump events. Complete 6-Channel Solution Including Boost The internal current-mode switching DC-DC controller Controller supports boost or SEPIC topologies, and operates in the All Settings Performed with External Components, 400kHz to 2.2MHz frequency range. Integrated spread No Need for Microcontroller Intervention spectrum helps reduce EMI. An adaptive output-voltage- Robust and Low EMI control scheme minimizes power dissipation in the LED Spread-Spectrum Oscillator current-sink paths. Phase Shifting The device features pulse-width modulation (PWM) dim- 400kHz to 2.2MHz Switching-Frequency Range ming and hybrid dimming. In either case, the minimum Versatile Dimming Scheme Allows Hybrid or PWM- pulse width is 500ns. Optional phase-shifted dimming of Only Dimming the strings is incorporated for lower EMI.
