MAX3362 3.3V, High-Speed, RS-485/RS-422 Transceiver in SOT Package General Description Benefits and Features The MAX3362 low-power, high-speed transceiver for Ideal for Multidrop RS-485/RS-422 Clock/ RS-485/RS-422 communication operates from a single Data Distribution +3.3V power supply. The device contains one differential Guaranteed 20Mbps Data Rate transceiver consisting of a line driver and receiver. The 6ns (max) Transmitter and Receiver Skew transceiver operates at data rates up to 20Mbps, with -7V to +12V Common-Mode Range an output skew of less than 6ns. Driver and receiver Hot-Swap Feature propagation delays are guaranteed below 50ns. This fast Allows Up to 256 Transceivers on the Bus switching and low skew make the MAX3362 ideal for Half-Duplex Operation multidrop clock/data distribution applications. Interoperable with +5V Logic The output level is guaranteed at +1.5V with a standard Low Power Consumption Minimizes 54 load, compliant with RS-485 specifications. The Thermal Dissipation transceiver draws 1.7mA supply current when unloaded Operates from a Single +3.3V Supply or fully loaded with the drivers disabled. Additionally, the 1.7mA Operating Supply Current MAX3362 has a low-power shutdown mode, reducing the 1A Low-Power Shutdown Mode supply current to 1A. Space-Saving 8-Pin SOT Package The MAX3362 has a 1/8-unit-load receiver input Protection Features and Wide Temperature Range impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers on the bus. Increase System Reliability in Harsh Environments The MAX3362 is designed for half-duplex communication. Current Limiting and Thermal Shutdown The device has a hot-swap feature that eliminates false Automotive Temperature Range Variants transitions on the data cable during circuit initialization. The drivers are short-circuit current limited, and a thermal shutdown circuit protects against excessive Ordering Information power dissipation. PART TEMP RANGE PIN-PACKAGE The MAX3362 is available in an 8-pin SOT package and MAX3362EKA+T -40C to +85C 8 SOT23-8 specified over industrial and automotive temperature ranges.
