MAX3658 19-3015 Rev 3 2/07 622Mbps, Low-Noise, High-Gain Transimpedance Preamplifier General Description Features The MAX3658 is a transimpedance preamplifier for 45nA Noise, -33dBm Sensitivity RMS receivers operating up to 622Mbps. Low noise, high 18.3k Transimpedance Gain gain, and low power dissipation make it ideal for fiber 580MHz Bandwidth access and small form-factor transceivers. 2mA Input Overload, 1dBm Overload The MAX3658 features 45nA input-referred noise, 18k P-P transimpedance gain, 580MHz bandwidth, and 2mA P-P 66mW Power Dissipation input overload. Operating from a +3.3V supply, the 3.3V Operation MAX3658 consumes only 66mW. An integrated filter resistor provides positive bias for the photodiode. These Average Photocurrent Monitor features, combined with a small die size, allow easy assembly into a TO-46 header with a photodiode. The Ordering Information MAX3658 also includes an average photocurrent monitor. PIN- PKG The MAX3658 has typical optical sensitivity of -33dBm PART TEMP RANGE PACKAGE CODE (0.9A/W), which exceeds the class-B APON require- ments. Typical optical overload is 1dBm. The MAX3658 8 TDFN MAX3658AETA -40C to +85C T833-3 is available in die form with both output polarities (3mm x 3mm) (MAX3658A and MAX3658B). The MAX3658A is also 8 TDFN available in a 3mm x 3mm 8-pin TDFN package.
