MAX9850 Stereo Audio DAC with DirectDrive Headphone Amplifier General Description Features The MAX9850 is a low-power, high-performance stereo 1.8V to 3.6V Single-Supply Operation audio DAC with an integrated DirectDrive headphone 30mW Stereo Headphone Output Power with amplifier. The MAX9850 is designed to meet the board 1.8V Supply space and performance requirements of portable devices DirectDrive Outputs Eliminate DC-Blocking such as cell phones and MP3 and portable DVD players. Capacitors The MAX9850 uses Maxims DirectDrive headphone 91dB PSRR at 1kHz technology that produces a ground-biased analog audio output from a single supply, which allows for driving the Any Master Clock Up to 40MHz headphones directly from the amplifier outputs without large 2 Flexible I S-Compatible Digital Audio Interface DC-blocking capacitors. This feature saves board space, 2 I C Headphone Volume and Mute Control provides higher click/pop suppression, and improves Stereo Line Inputs and Outputs low-frequency (bass) response. The architecture does not require the headphone jack to be biased to a DC voltage Clickless/Popless Operation and thus allows for a conventional, grounded chassis 2 2-Wire (I C)-Compatible Control Interface design. Available in 28-Pin Thin QFN Package The MAX9850s flexible clocking circuitry utilizes any available system clock up to 40MHz, eliminating the need for an Ordering Information external PLL and multiple crystal oscillators. The DAC supports a wide range of sample rates from 8kHz to 48kHz PIN- PKG PART TEMP RANGE in both master and slave modes, making the MAX9850 the PACKAGE CODE easiest to use and most versatile audio DAC available. It MAX9850ETI+ -40C to +85C 28 TQFN-EP** T2855+ can also be operated like traditional synchronous DACs, at any integer-oversampling ratio. **EP = Exposed pad. +Denotes lead-free package.
