The UC3842BN is an 8-pin DIP (dual inline package) high-performance current-mode pulse width modulator controller designed by HGSEMI. It is designed to provide improved dynamics and superior performance in switched-mode power supplies. The UC3842BN offers an improved version of the classic fixed off-time current mode controller, and makes use of an internal sawtooth oscillator and highly predictable jitter-free switching waveform. The UC3842BN is capable of operating in strong or weak selected frequency mode, and has an adjustable output voltage auto-recovery pulse modulation scheme which achieves regulation of output voltage across a wide range of loads and makes the control loop response independent of frequency.The UC3842BN is RoHS compliant, making it compliant to environmental directives which are increasingly required in many areas. It can operate from 6V-36V input, with output voltage from 0.8V-20V with up to 2A ICC. It is designed to support a wide variety of single power supply AC-DC controllers & regulators and can be used in lighting control applications, constant power supply applications, 1-phase buck, and other switched-mode power supplies.Its features include a low start-up current, input overvoltage protection, low power current modes, low output voltage ripple, thermal shutdown protection, and a minimum operating frequency of 1kHz. The UC3842BN has a maximum frequency of 330kHz.
