motor 1. Motor Cable: The motor cable is an integral component of any Igus motor and carries the electricity to power the motor. It is often encased in a durable, flexible jacket to protect it from the elements. 2. Drive Shaft: The drive shaft transfers the power from the motor to the rest of the system. It has a special coating that provides it with extra strength and is designed to resist corrosion and wear. 3. Mounting Bracket: This component is used to attach the motor to its mounting surface. It is usually machined out of aluminum or steel and is used to secure the motor in place. 4. Bearings: The bearings are responsible for providing a low friction interface between the motor and its mounting surface. In some applications, a separate set of bearings is also used in order to provide extra support for the drive shaft and prevent it from vibrating. 5. Mechanical Coupling: The mechanical coupling is used to connect the drive shaft and motor shaft together. It is typically constructed out of steel and is designed to withstand a high load capacity. 6. Heat Sink: The heat sink is responsible for dissipating heat generated by the motor and transferring it away from the motor and other components. This is necessary to maintain the efficiency and longevity of all components. 7. Thermal Protection Switch: This component is used to detect elevated temperatures, which can be caused by overloading the motor or inadequate ventilation. When the switch is triggered, it will instantly shut off the motor to prevent damage. 8. Motor Housing: The motor housing protects the internal components of the motor from dust and other particles. It is usually constructed out of aluminum or plastic and is designed to provide both rigidity and an aesthetic look. 9. Output Shaft: The output shaft is used to transfer energy from the motor to the connected machine or equipment. It is typically constructed from a specially hardened steel or alloy and is designed to handle heavy duty loads. 10. Control Panel: A separate control panel is often connected to the motor in order to allow for easier control and maintenance. It is usually equipped with readouts to allow for increased accuracy and performance.
