® Movidius™ Myriad™2
The Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™2 Vision Processing Unit (VPU) is a low power, high performance processor for computer vision applications. It is an embedded artificial intelligence (AI) chip designed to accelerate deep learning and inference at the edge. The Intel® Movidius™ Neural Compute Stick (NCS) is an AI accelerator. It can be used to accelerate deep learning and inference applications by hosting a dedicated Myriad 2 VPU. The NCS plugs into the USB port of any system and supports various frameworks including Caffe and TensorFlow, allowing developers to experiment and run models locally, providing significant speed increases compared to a traditional CPU. With the Myriad 2 VPU, the NCS can be used to accelerate multiple vision tasks, including image classification, object detection, segmentation, and facial recognition. The NCS can also be used to infer deep neural networks on-device, reducing the need to send data to the cloud and significantly reducing latency.
