Des Sables
The CJ660 is the most challenging part of the Marathon des Sables. It is a 66-kilometer stage that is usually done in around 13 to 14 hours. During this stage, competitors go through two very grueling sand dunes, called Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga, at the highest points of the Sahara Desert. At times, temperatures can increase to over 48°C, making it a physically and mentally challenging part of the race. The landscape is dry and users must carry all necessary food and water supplies with them.
